Repeat Prescriptions

pill_bottleFor repeat prescriptions, please apply in writing to the surgery either by letter, fax, e-mail or online (see below). If you have the right hand side of your previous prescription which gives details of the drugs you are taking and the doses, even better. Just tick off the items you need and drop it in to us.

To apply in writing, please either

  • Use the second page of your previous prescription;
  • Post, fax or bring a letter to the surgery;
  • E-mail details to lamccg.brockwellparksurgery@nhs.net
  • Order online via the link at the top of this page - new users need to register first.

Please check before ordering your prescription medicines. Only order medicines you need

Your prescription will be ready in two working days. If you want your prescription sent back to you, please supply a stamped, self-addressed envelope.  If you want your prescription sent on to a local pharmacy please mark this on your request.

If the surgery is closed when you wish to drop off your prescription, please pop it in the black mailbox to the left of the front door. Otherwise call in to the reception as usual when we are open - there is a slot specifically for prescriptions in the reception area immediately to your right as you enter the building so that you don't need to wait for a member of reception staff to become available.

On all prescription requests please ensure you include the following:

  • your name
  • your address
  • your date of birth
  • the name of the drug you require and its amount.

Please bear in mind that although our system is secure, we cannot absolutely guarantee the security of information e-mailed in to us.

Online Prescription Requests

 You can now request your repeat prescriptions through Patient Access, our secure online service. To register for Patient Access just come into the surgery with a form of identification (e.g. current passport or driving licence) and one of our receptionists will give you a letter containing your PIN number and ID. Once you've got your letter just click on this link and follow the instructions.

If you're having any trouble please email us or speak to a member of staff.

Electronic Prescriptions

Since 12 August 2013, EMIS Web (our clinical data system for recording your patient notes) now allows us to send prescriptions electronically directly to the pharmacy.  This is called the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS). If you have regular repeat prescriptions and would like us to send them directly to the pharmacy, please ask our reception staff for a "patient nomination request" form. You can also ask your regular pharmacy for a form.

Please dispose of out-of-date prescriptions carefully. They can be returned to any pharmacy for disposal. Do not bring them to the surgery for disposal or place them in standard domestic waste.

Ensure that your prescription drugs are stored at home out of reach of children.

New Medication

If you think you may need a new medication, why not click here for the NHS Choices Medication Directory to find out if you can buy it over the counter or to find a local pharmacy who can advise you. Alternatively, make an appointment for a telephone consultation or come in to the surgery.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
